Our 2011 In Review

Since I didn't start blogging until September.. And this was without a doubt, the busiest year we will EVER experience.. I thought I'd sum up our (January to September) 2011 in one GIANT post.. :) Best, busiest, most perfect year EVER!
Prepare yourself.. REALLY BIG post, LOTS of pictures!

January :

Started out 2011 with the love of my life and Kailee bug.. We watched a LOT of Riley's basketball games, and Jake moved out of his apartment and into mine.. Something I SWORE I'd never do.. Oh well, seems to have worked for us :) Loved having him there every night.. being able to cook for him and waking up to his cute face every morning! Our relationship truly grew from there.. It was an easy, smooth adjustment.. I was expecting a lot more to 'bug' me.. He is such a great help, clean and organized.. Phewh! ;)

This picture was taken at one of Riley's games.. Sure love him :) Can't believe this was a YEAR ago!

February :

Our first Valentines :) We made pizza with heart pepperonis, cupcakes for grandparents and Angie, and played outside! It was the warmest Valentine's I can remember.. Kailee took the ball outside and played with Jake while I made our 'Valentines lunch'.. Jake and I also snuck away for some alone time and stayed at the Anniversary Inn in Logan for a weekend. SO much fun! So nice to be away, without going far, and just hang out together.. As Valentine's approaches this year, we're thinking of making it tradition :) I am a firm believer in keeping our relationship PRIORITY. Happy wife = happy husband.. Happy husband = happy wife! And that equals HAPPY KIDS! If we continue to put our focus on each other and our happiness, we have SO much more to give Kailee and our future children..  That's my belief anyway! After all, kids grow up and leave the home and develop their own relationships.. We have each other forever! Best that we like each other, huh?! :)

On our way to Anniversary Inn :) One of my favorite weekends of our relationship!

Leaving Logan, headed to Ammon and Amber's to watch the Superbowl..

Jake and Kailee surprised me at work with a Valentine's rose and a cute card with a stuffed animal :) One lucky girl, I am!

Our Valentine's Pizza :) Those things weren't as easy as I thought to cut with a plastic cookie cutter! And Kailee was a little too young to care.. but it was fun anyway!

Making cupcakes! This is her favorite part!

March :

One of the hardest months EVER.. I went on my cruise with a group of friends.. and leaving Jake at the airport was one of the hardest things I've ever done.. Sounds pathetic, I know.. But it was the LONGEST 6 days of my life! I called him BAWLING one night from the middle of the ocean.. Told him to come get me! haha.. Poor guy.. I am sure he felt helpless.. and hungry! The kitchen looked the exact same when I returned.. Take out was his friend for a few days! I left on the 2nd, and the 4th was our 6 month anniversary so I had a pizza delivered.. and right before I left I hid a bunch of sticky notes and a card he would find that day. Sure missed him.. SO hard to be away! My phone was in and out of usable service.. so I was able to use it for texts here and there.. the bill for those 6 days was only $199.00.. not too bad ;) I flew home a day earlier with one of the girls, while the rest stuck around for an extra day in Miami.. So I bused from Miami to Ft Lauderdale, flew to Dallas, then FINALLY to SLC. LONG day! Walking down to meet him at baggage claim was one of the greatest feelings ever... he looked so handsome and we couldn't stop looking at each other.. That's also when we decided we were ready to be married.. We didn't want to spend another minute apart! To be honest, sometimes I forget that I have been outside the country.. That trip was such a blur for me.. I missed Jake SO much, and the bad news that followed overshadowed any fun I had.. My last night on the ship, I was in and out of service.. Enough to get a couple of phone calls and about 10 texts.. My best guy friend from high school had passed away.. Justin was one of the greatest guys I ever knew. He was there for me during lots of hard times, and he was one of the few high school friends that I continued a relationship with after school. Love him dearly and miss him everyday, and feel blessed to have his little sister so close to our family.. She is dating my brother :) I love Andi and I absolutely love and adore his mom, Wendi. Though I know he's up there smiling that cute smile, I miss him and think of him often.. I just wish I could have introduced him to Jake.. and given him one last hug.. RIP Justin.. BIG loves!

Jamie and I on the plane to Houston..

On the ship!

Sweet Justin and his best friend Riley. These two got me through lots of rough times. Love them both! And THIS is how I choose to remember Justin. :)

April :

Monday, April 4th, 2011... Jake was headed to the gym after work.. I worked a little late, but headed right home. Nothing unusual... Jake's Durango wasn't there and I headed in to start dinner. I opened the door and immediately the tears came.. I knew what was happening, as we had just looked at rings a couple weeks before, though I wasn't expecting it that quick. The apartment was covered with roses and candles. There was a note by each candle and I was told to follow them. The last one said to open the storage room door. I did, and there he was, guitar in hand. We both cried (sorry babe:)) and he played the SWEETEST song for me. He then headed over to the side of the bed, grabbed a rose and handed it to me. My ring slid down the stem. He got on his knee and asked me to marry him. I of course, said yes :) We couldn't wait to share the news with our family and friends! We also had such a great Easter and were able to take Kailee on an Easter egg hunt at Grandma Jeri's (my grandma)! Her and Grandpa RonDell do the best hunts! And they were so cute with the kids! Not only are my parents first time grandparents, but that makes them first time GREAT-grand parents! Good thing they take such good care of their bodies and are active so they can enjoy watching the great grand kids grow up! We love them and had so much fun! The Easter Bunny also made a stop at our house and even left a peep on Kailee's face! Silly Easter Bunny must be a boy ;) April is also Jake's birthday month! I loooove birthdays, and think they should be made special! So we planned a big weekend up in Park City with a group of friends.. and an extra night of just the two of us! We had such a great time! Hope your birthday was wonderful babe! You deserved it! BUSY month!

Searching for her eggs!

May :

We had so much fun at the Kidz Expo! Thanks to my parents, Linds and B, Ammon and Amber and our friends Jamie and Ava and Kenzie and Oakley! We had so much fun! The kids loved it! Full of princesses, bounce houses, face paintings, and MUCH much more! What a great day! Also, our niece Reagan was born! We were able to go see her at the hospital and I couldn't get enough of her! SO cute! I also had minor surgery at the beginning of May, so we had a quiet Mother's day at my moms :) I have the most beautiful, kind, loving, funny mom in the world! Love her so much! I was down and out, so we weren't able to see JoLene, but I love her lots! She is such a great woman! I am lucky to have two amazing mom's now! May was also our last month at Donna's. That was my favorite place to live.. Of all the apartments I've been in since I moved out at 18, it was the only one that felt like HOME. I loved that place so much! It was tiny, studio style, and perfect! Well, perfect for one person.. I didn't know a month after moving in I'd meet Jake! It was perfect for one, not for three :) We loved our time there! I still miss it!

Headed to the Kidz Expo!

June :

Lots of time at the pool! And Cowabunga Bay (or Bungo Bay as Kailee calls it).. We were able to go to Island Park with Morgan, Brandon and Kamas which we LOVED! It was so fun to show Jake around, eat yummy food, and hang out! We love them lots! We spent one day at Liberty Park in the water with a fun group of friends, got our engagement pictures done, celebrated Fathers Day with a BBQ at Lindsays, Jake got a new grill, and Jake's 100 mile MS Bike Tour in Logan with the Martinez fam, Lindsay's birthday dinner, and final fitting for my dress!

July :

Camping with the Robbins Fam in Island Park, Brooklynn's birthday, more Cowabunga Bay, birthday parties, wedding shower, concert, Lagoon, and Jake's triathlon. Camping over the 4th is one of my favorite childhood memories.. I love going to Island Park, watch the fireworks, and just be in the motor home.. I love going into West to shop and have pizza, and floating the river..  The girls were able to go with us, and we got to celebrate Brooklynn's 2nd birthday up there! We had a Minnie Mouse birthday party and did so many fun things. The terrible 2's hit.. as well as the terrible almost 4's. Wow! We still laugh about it.. One of the girls was in time out, or in trouble almost the entire week! haha! Weird, since they are both such good kids.. But in all fairness.. camping, weird sleep schedules and keeping them SUPER busy didn't help! We had so much fun still! And I was glad to share those memories with Jake and Kailee for the first time :). We also got to go to Ava's fun birthday party, Lagoon, Kenny Chesney concert and one of the coolest experiences of my life.. watching Jake cross the finish line at the Spudman Triathlon. AMAZING. I can't put into words how proud I am of him.. Such a cool experience. What a talented, motivated man I married! And last, but certainly not least.. Kailee bug got her ears peirced! She was SO brave and didn't cry ONCE! We couldn't believe it! She was so proud of her new earrings, and they were only red for a few minutes.. We are so lucky to have such a great relationship with Angie. We were all able to experience this together, with Angie's cute friend Savannah! Kailee has SO many people who love her! She is very lucky!

On our way to float the river!

Some serious BROmance right here!

Waiting to start the float!

August :

Another crazy busy month! Lindsay's wedding, bridal shower for me, Kailee's 4th/Maddy's 2nd birthday party, camping with the Andrus family, bridals/groomals, and Tim McGraw concert.. This was an absolute INSANE month.. I remember thinking, more than once, that if I were Jake.. I'd be having second thoughts! I was so stressed! The wedding was so close that there were TONS of last minute things to do, but it was too late for any big changes.. I wanted to be the best maid of honor possible for my sisters wedding.. planning flights and getting out to California for the big day, planning Kailee's birthday in between and camping with the Andrus side left for little time for everyday life! I was stretched pretty thin! And exhausted by this point! I was DONE with weddings, and they hadn't even started! I had an amazing shower thrown for me by my beautiful bridesmaids! Sadly, I don't think I got any pictures, but it was such a fun night! I am so lucky to have such AMAZING friends! Thanks for hosting it at your cute house, Linds! And my 3 best friends from forever, got me the SWEETEST gift.. It was a bin full of ALL of my favorite things.. from sweedish fish, to hairspray, to lip gloss, to baby lotion, to chips! Everything! And in the card was a certificate for our wedding night to Anniversary Inn. Seriously? SPOILED! It made me tear up thinking about it for the next couple of days.. I am SO blessed to have friends who know me, sometimes better than I know myself. Thanks again, ladies.. :) I love you all! That weekend, we went camping with my new family.. We had lots of fun, and it was nice to spend time with them outside of the normal family dinners.. Wish it could have been for longer, and I had pictures, but it was a really good time! We had a good dinner, sat around the fire and woke up for a quick breakfast and walk to the river.. It was short, but great! I really love them a lot.. I feel so comfortable and welcome.. I'm lucky! And we left just 1 week later for Lindsay's wedding! We had SO much fun! Getting away, all the way out of state, was the best thing for me! This week, was ALL about Lindsay! It was perfect! From dinner on the pier (at the most AMAZING restaurant), to walks on the beach, the bagel shop, and the wedding day, it was PERFECT! We had so much fun! It was such a fun and emotional day on the actual DAY of the wedding.. I was having a blast with my sister, but so emotional that she was to be MARRIED in a few short hours! My Linds!? It was crazy.. We spent the day split from the boys.. went to lunch, got mani-pedi's and did a little shopping.. It was fabulous! The boys.. did the same ;) We went to a salon where they had been just an hour before! The cute little ladies in there thought it was hilarious! We got back to the house just in time to get ready for the ceremony.. One of the most beautiful ceremonies EVER... My Uncle Cory is absolutely amazing and his home and yard are breathtaking! Perfect wedding! And to top off an already perfect day, Jake was asked to sing my dad and Lindsay's song "Butterfly Kisses" for their first dance. Talk about huge BOOB! I cried the entire time! He did SUCH an amazing job, I am so proud! Congrats to the happy couple! We love you! And another VERY important day.. August 25th.. This year we got Kailee bug on her actual birthday! We had such a great day! She woke up to balloons, a flower, and a birthday cupcake :) We played a couple of games, she chose Chik-fil-A for lunch, and then we went to see a movie! We got home and her mommy came over, we played a couple of games, and had spaghetti with meatballs (Kailee's favorite) for dinner. A great day! And just a couple days later, the big birthday party! It turned out SO great! Maddelyn's birthday is just a few days after Kailee's so Amber and I decided we'd combine the parties this year. We had so much fun! We decided (after the Kidz Expo) that we'd do a bounce house.. HUGE success! This was my first time planning her birthday, and I was pretty nervous! I wanted it to be perfect for her... So glad it turned out so great! Thanks to all that could make it and Amber for all of your help! It meant so much to us! :) We also had our bridal/groomal session which went FABULOUS! So glad we did it! Saved us so much 'photo time' on the wedding day.. Thanks again, Cheneil! You're amazing!  (a lot of these got out of order.. oops!)

Headed to California.. Our first flight together!

September :

Where to start?! Our 1 year anniversary (from when we met), the start of BYU football, Andrus family shower, Rascal Flats concert, birthday/bach/bachelorette celebration, and.. the happiest day of my life! Our wedding day! (which deserves its own post!) Honeymoon, and adjusting to normal life.. I think once September hit, I was FINALLY able to relax and soak in all that was happening, and about to happen.. Our wedding day was absolutely the most perfect day of my life.. I woke up at 6:30 am. No clue why, I knew I could sleep until at least 8:00.. but I couldn't sleep. It felt like Christmas when I was 7. I could NOT wait to get the day started.. I laid in bed thinking about Jake.. Kailee.. and that in just a few short hours, we'd officially be starting our lives as a family. I was SO excited! I didn't ever get nervous.. Until about 45 minutes before the ceremony. I had gathered all of my bridesmaids, JoLene and my mom into one room. I had a little something for each of them, but before I could give it to them, I had a couple of things to say.. and no words would come! I looked around the room at these women whom I love and adore more than anything and the tears started flowing. I couldn't believe the love, support, and encouragement in that room. The greatest women on the PLANET, and they were all there for ME! I am so very blessed. I ended up saying NOTHING I had planned to say, gave them the gifts and it was quickly back to the madness.. It was closing in on time for the ceremony.. If you know Jake at all, this won't surprise you.. he decided to walk down the aisle as well.. and had his own song.. :) If you've never heard it before, go listen. It's called "She Thinks She Needs Me". WOW! I was up in my parents room taking some last minute pics with the photographer when I heard the song start.. I walked over to the big window and watched the two loves of my life, who in 15 minutes would by my new little family... walk down the aisle. I was done after that! Though I'm pretty sure it destroyed my make up, I will never forget that moment and the overwhelming feeling of peace and comfort I felt. I KNEW I was doing the right thing! Best feeling in the world! The ceremony went perfectly, we were able to exchange our vows which was an incredible experience.. and the reception was SO much fun! Full of dancing, FABULOUS cupcakes, cake smeared all over my face, and all of our family and friends! I was so touched at the turn out and the support we had.. BEST DAY OF MY LIFE! Followed by the best week of my life! I loved our honeymoon! We must have been all pictured out, because we don't have any! It was such a great week.. Lots of food, hot baths, and SLEEPING! (I'll spare you all the rest ;)) I think we slept 10+ hours each night. We were both EXHAUSTED from all the wedding planning and looking back, probably our busy life!.. We spent time in downtown SLC, Park City, and Provo (you all know we couldn't miss the BYU game!) Fabulous week! I will let the pictures speak for themselves here.. and stop rambling on.. Love September.. and September 2011 topped them all!

The handsome groom :)

My handsome hubby!

WE'RE MARRIED!!

The year 2011 was by far.. the busiest year of my life. Though the stress, planning, running around and changing my mind 300 times was exhausting.. I can truly say, my wedding day was PERFECT! My parents yard was GORGEOUS.. they worked so hard to have it perfect for us.. The temperature couldn't have been better.. and I left my parents house, my home for as long as I can remember...as a married woman! The happiest, most blessed, married woman alive! 2011, it will definitely be a tough year to top!

Two of my favorite and quite beautiful women! Love them so much! Isn't my mom GORGEOUS?!

Happy Birthday Krystal!!

So I have to say.. I have the GREATEST friends! I seriously have more than a handful of best friends... 3 of whom have been my best friends for close to 10 years.. Yikes.. that sounds old! Ha! We couldn't be more different, and are all at different stages in our lives.. But through THICK and THIN, these women have been my rocks.. So, I'll celebrate each of them (and our personal relationships) on their birthdays this year!

The 3 who have been there through it all! LOVE THEM SO MUCH!

KRYSTAL! The big 2-5! How I love this girl! She was my partner in crime while the other two went off and got married and had kids on us ;)! Some of my funnest, craziest and best memories are with this girl.. We never really had ups and downs, because we could both shoot each other straight and just say " you're being a bi*#@! " And I'm pretty sure we've said that to each other more than a few times.. That was always the relationship we had, and we grew so much because of it..

Isn't she gorgeous?!?

This girl was next to me during some of the darkest days of my life.. And for about 2 - 3 straight years.. there were a LOT of dark times. I can't tell you how many weekends she spent at my house and in jammies because I wasn't ready to go back out in to the world yet.. And she never complained.. She listened to my same sob story 3 billion times, and pretended to listen and care each time.. Thank you Krys, from the bottom of my heart, for being such a HUGE shoulder to cry on.. Love you!

Love her!

This girl knows how to have a good time, and boy did we ever! No regrets, but goodness, we're lucky to have made it out of some of those times safe! Ha! Anyone who knows Krystal, knows that she has a THICK and really TALL wall to break down before she lets you 'in'.. I am so grateful that I was able to break that wall and be there for her during some of her hard times as well..

One CRAZY vacation!! Krys got started on her 'man hunt' early that day.. ;)

Krystal is one of the most giving and loving people in the world.. and it's always my goal to turn that 'bitch face' look into a smile! :) As tough as she may appear, she is one of the sweetest people in the world!

Happy Birthday pretty girl!

I love you Krys! Here's to many, MANY more birthdays celebrated together! :) See you tonight!

25 Random Facts

I did this awhile ago and it was SO much fun to laugh at myself while I thought of all these weird things about me! Enjoy!

1. I HATE tomatoes. Love ketchup, salsa, tomato soup and bruchetta. Hate tomatoes.

2. I am absolutely terrified of butterflies! They creep me out when they 'flutter'.. Sounds funny.. but really, I am TERRIFIED!

3. I love reading about REAL murders and serial killers. John Gacy, Zodiac Killer, Ted Bundy, the gruesome details, pictures, all of it.. But one of my greatest fears is being murdered? Weirdo.

4. I have to get my toothbrush wet before AND after I put toothpaste on it.

5. I play with/smell my hair when I get nervous. If I'm wearing a scarf, I will play with or smell that..

6. I find it impossible to 'talk' to Bella in a normal voice. I have to use my 'Bella voice'.

7. I sometimes go 10 (or more.. : /) days between washing my hair. Gross? haha!

8. I still have my baby blanket (blanklet) and sleep with it every night..

9. It gives me anxiety if people take too big of a bite. I can't stand when they can barely chew because they have so much food in their mouth. It grosses me out, and really does make me feel anxious..

10. I have CRAZY natural curl to my hair.. not pretty, wavy curls.. but TIGHT, frizzy curls.. This is why I don't wash my hair often.. takes FOREVER to blow dry and straighten..

11. I have used the same lip gloss for about 10 years.. and put it on 50 times a day!

12. I like the smell of gas, glue and nail polish. Don't judge ;)

13. Not a huge fan of chocolate.. I NEVER crave it. I'll eat it here and there.. in little bits, but never just straight chocolate.

14. I LOVE babies.. Almost too much. Sometimes I have to stop myself from asking random strangers if I can hold their babies.. :) I hope this means I will be a good mom!

15. I make a 'to-do' list almost every day. Sometimes, I over plan.. It's the first thing I do in the mornings when I get to work.. Make my to-do list for the day.. I always have a grocery list, and sometimes even list what needs to be done at home. Its a good-bad thing. I like being organized but sometimes I need to be more flexible with my time..

16. I always wear earrings.. I have WAY too many pair, but I love them. It's about the only piece of jewelry (besides my wedding ring) that I always wear..

17. I don't like to wear socks. I only wear them when I HAVE to.. They make me feel restricted and hot. As soon as the shoes come off, so do the socks! It doesn't matter how cold my feet are, I never walk around in socks.

18. I like to 'get ready'.. I enjoy doing my make up, hair and picking out clothes.. I very rarely do anything without make up. Not because I'm insecure, but because I actually like to get ready. I love doing other peoples make up and hair.. that might be my dream profession.. Not necessarily a salon type stylist.. but more for things like music videos or runway shows.. I would LOVE it!

19. I get insanely LOUD hiccups. Ones that EVERYONE in the office can hear, and they HURT! People seem to find it funny, but at the wrong time and place, it's pretty embarrassing! Thanks Mom ;) She gets the same kind!

20. I can NOT stand Taylor Swift. If she is on the radio, it gets changed.. QUICK! Its not her music.. she has some really great songs.. but SHE bugs me. Awards shows? Really? You're THAT surprised?! You sold 80 billion albums in 2 days. You're so shocked you won that you have to grab your chest and gasp?! UGH! SOOO annoying!

21. If I am reading anything on the computer monitor, I highlight the words that I'm reading, not sure why? It doesn't help me see.. or keep me in my place, I just do it! I think I annoy the hell out of some of my co-workers with the 'clicking' of my mouse :)

22. I don't like my water too cold. It has to be the right temperature. We keep water bottles in the fridge at home and if they've been in there too long, I will dump out about 1/3 of the cold water, and add room temperature water to it.. My teeth are extremely sensitive and for some reason, I just don't like SUPER cold water..

23. If I leave the house with an unmade bed, that is ALL I will think about. It drives me CRAZY to have an unmade bed. I can't do it. It's one of the first things I do when we get up in the mornings. Something about a messy bed = messy room to me.. Not sure why. It doesn't bother me (too bad ;)) when people don't make their own, but if mine isn't made.. I go CRAZY! OCD?? Maybe..

24. I have not been to the dentist in.. ohhhhh.. 8 or 9 years? Eww? Ha! I do NOT like the dentist. Weird, since I'm obsessed with having white teeth.. But white teeth WITHOUT the dentist, thank you!

25. I LOVE TO CLEAN! Really! I do! I especially love cleaning the kitchen and bathrooms.. Dusting isn't my favorite, but I genuinely LIKE to do all of the other things. Nothing feels better than a clean home! If I go more than 5 or 6 days in between cleaning, it will start to make me grumpy. The second it's done, I feel like a new person! LOVE a clean home full of a yummy scentsy smell! :)

There ya have it, folks! I am a freak! Do any of you still want to be my friend?! :) Your turn! Coming up with 25 WEIRD things, is harder than you'd think! Every body hates spiders.. gotta come up with the WEIRD ones! Try it!

That was ROUGH!

Started writing a Facebook post, and thought it might be a bit too personal.. Then I thought about a blog, and again, maybe a bit too personal.. but somehow, writing it out feels better.. and since I know there are MANY out there going through the same thing.. I am not going to worry about 'too personal'.. this is my blog, and those who chose to read it care enough, I hope.. to listen to the not so great things too..

This Christmas was HARD. Beautiful, happy, and I got spoiled rotten.. I got to be at my Mom's with my Jake, my sister and her hubby, my little brother, my parents and grandparents who were in California for a few months.. But two little things were missing. Little B and Kailee Bug. Wow, was that HARD! Who knew a 2 year old and a 4 year old could make life THAT much sweeter? Lots of changes this year.. Linds and I are now married.. The guys were with us last year, but this was our first Christmas married.. No McMurdie family party on Christmas Eve.. that was weird. First Christmas of my whole life not going with the McMurdie side on Christmas Eve.. I understand why, the family is out of control HUGE, and you don't really get to talk to anyone other than your immediate family, but weird, none the less.. We didn't open a single present until after noon.. Which is weird.. We're an early rising, open all our presents before breakfast family. So to wait until after Church and breakfast seemed a little strange.. But mostly.. we were missing two little girls who have stolen all of our hearts! Seems that's all we could talk about.. wondering what they were doing, if they were excited, if Santa had come, all of it! Linds and I were trying to keep each other positive.. Since it was just as hard for her.. Luckily, our next 'off' year, we'll have her little baby to keep us company! :) Grateful for that!

We were lucky and got to talk to Brooklynn and Kailee within an hour of each other.. Brooklynn got a princess tent for her mommies house, and oddly enough, so did Kailee :) We thought that was pretty cool! The girls talked to us for a minute or two, but were so busy having fun with their new toys, that we seemed more of an annoyance than anything.. I get it.. but it was HARD! Last year seemed rough, we didn't have Kailee.. But Brooklynn was there to distract us a little bit, and we were able to get Kailee for the afternoon.. But we had decided around the first of the year when planning holidays with Angie, that we'd try to get the girls on the same year, so we went one more year without having her.. And we also talked about letting the person with the 'on' year, keep her for the whole holiday. Which I know is the best decision.. for everyone. But our off years are going to be ROUGH!

I went up to bed a little earlier than Jake on Christmas Eve. I didn't want to upset him in anyway, and I needed a minute to myself. I laid in bed wondering if Kailee was already asleep.. thinking about how excited she had to have been, and wondering what she'll think Christmas morning. I shed a few tears.. Of happiness, and a little selfishness. I missed her. A lot! I couldn't help but be overjoyed that she was a part of my life..  and that next year would be AWESOME! But a little part of me was SO sad that it meant that every other year would just feel empty. I am so grateful to have the relationship I do with Angie. I know that every year, her and I can talk about how much fun we had, and also how hard it was.. And that we can get each other through the 'off years'. I am not naive enough to think that it won't be even harder for her next year.. it will.. And I hope Jake and I can always be understanding enough to help her through it on her 'off years'. Because the on years, are that much better!

On the positive side, IT'S CHRISTMAS WEEK FOR US! :) We get to celebrate TWICE!!! Merry Christmas week, all! :) We get the girls for the whole weekend coming up, and Santa will be to Grandma Merrilee's on Friday night! We are SO excited! We get 2 Christmases this year!

So grateful for the strong support system that we have.. It keeps us positive, it keeps us excited! Thankful for my mom, Linds, our grandparents, and Angie for making this as easy as possible on us.. As hard as this year is, next year will be TOTALLY worth it! Kudos to those of you who live this same life.. For staying positive and getting through it the best you can.. I know I'm the 'step parent', so it should be easiest for me.. and I can't imagine how Jake and Angie feel.. but I hope to be both of their biggest supports.. It's HARD! I may have underestimated that part.. But I know that neither Jake and I, nor Angie will ever take our Christmas with Kailee for granted! And she will grow up one lucky little girl! And we will cherish every second we have with her..

Hope you all had a very Merry Christmas! And now, the REAL Merry Christmas week for the Black's and the Andrus'!

It's The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year!

I LOVE this time of year! I always have.. I am as excited now as when I was a kid! When I think about Christmas time growing up.. I always think of my mom and her AMAZINGLY decorated home. The Christmas candles we ALWAYS had going, the Christmas music she would play, and all of her cute decor that COVERED the kitchen, living room, family room and the basement. She went all out with Christmas.. some would say over the top, more than a year or two... or five.. And last year, being her first Christmas as a grandma, even more so! But besides the presents, there were SO many fun things she did for us over the years to make our holidays special..

I remember one fun thing she did after a tramatic year of Lindsay getting one less present than I did.. Linds has always been this CRAZY, outgoing, fun-loving, turns-to-a-brat-in-the-blink-of-an-eye-girl :) Though she's grown out of that last part, Linds has always loved the attention and presents! Well, after a rough year, my mom switched things up.. No more names on presents.. The next year, they were numbered.. and we didn't know until Christmas Eve what our 'number' was.. The next year it was the Rugrats characters.. And, yes, Lindsay was Angelica ;) Ha ha! She did wrapping paper, and several other fun things to disguise who's were who's.. Then for the last maybe 7 or 8 years, NO names on presents for the three kids.. It was a really fun way to slow down the day, take turns and PAY attention.. because that gift that is being opened, might be yours! :) Somehow, Riley opened a bra or girl underwear EVERY. SINGLE. YEAR! We've always had to take turns and watch each other open, but that took it to a different level! SO fun!

My mom has always made Christmas so special.. Not just the presents, or the amazing decor.. but in every way.. The traditions, the spirit in our home, and the constant reminders of the real reason for the season.. I sure hope that some day, my kids feel that way too.. Now that I've entered a new phase in life, the part where Jake and I are responsible for those memories and the traditions of the holidays.. it brings a new joy and deeper happiness to my heart than the excitement of being a child waiting for my gifts from Santa ever could.. I am so excited for our Christmas with Kailee and our first Christmas as a family..

The last few years of my life have been far from religious, but they have absolutely been spiritual.. And when I think about this season and all that comes with it, there is no way that the feelings that I feel could come from presents, Santa Claus, lights, decorations or a Christmas tree. It is so much more than that. To me, it's about family, the ones I love, and my knowledge of something greater than any one of us could imagine. A Savior's love that has no limitations or judgement.. No care of color, race, religion or sexual preference. A pure love that only He could understand. I pray this time of year, that those are the things I can teach my children.. Just like my parents did for me.

Merry Christmas to you all.. May we take this special time of year to celebrate all we are blessed with!

My amazing husband!

I know every woman thinks she has the best husband... but really... TRULY, I know I do! At least the best husband for me! I don't know what on earth I did to get so lucky, but I am SO very glad he chose me :) I have been thinking a lot lately about ALL he does for our family... I have found that it's come up in conversations a lot lately and it hit me that my kids, especially my girls, will really need to hear this someday. I don't know if blogging will be cool in 2025.. but I don't care :) This is my journal and I want Kailee, and those babies that haven't made it to earth yet to know how much I love their Daddy. So here it goes.. I'll just list my favorite things about him.. in no particular order

10. He helps clean up dinner. Every night. Seems like lately, he's done it by himself.. every night. He cleans up the dishes, puts lunches in containers, starts the dishwasher and washes gross pans. I even hate to do that... and he does it with out a single complaint! SO lucky to have so much help! He's even made a dinner in the last week (and TWO Breakfasts')! Best grilled cheese and tomato soup I've ever had! ;)

9. He does laundry. Often. A lot. Okay.... almost always. :) That includes sorting, washer to dryer, folding, hanging up AND putting away. His clothes, Kailee's clothes and even mine... Seriously! He does laundry! And he even does it well! Lucky me!

8. He makes me laugh. Hysterically... at least once a day! I have never had a man make me laugh like he does! He knows when (and when not) to tease me... and has the BEST personality and sense of humor.. He keeps me laughing, Kailee laughing, and really, anyone who is around him! Love that about him!

7. He brings out a side of me that no one else could. He MAKES me talk, he makes me open up, he makes me get it all out. I am so grateful for that. I've never, EVER been able to communicate like I can with him. And it makes me happy that he feels the same way about me. We have our disagreements, and we talk through them ALL. We get it all out, and move forward and upward. So very grateful for that..

6. He blows me away with his musical talents. Last night for example.. I am watching Kourtney & Kim Take New York and he grabs his laptop, guitar and headphones (wonder why?! :)) and just starts practicing. Anything and everything.. I love that he can sing to us, and encourages us to sing. I have a recorded version of him and Kailee singing She is Love by Parachute. Talk about melt my heart! I love to hear him sing and can't describe how proud he makes me when he picks up that guitar! I love it so much! One of the proudest moments of my life was hearing him sing at my sisters wedding. Such a special moment for our family.. Then our wedding.. The song he had recorded.. the same one that he played when he proposed. Beautiful. Amazing. And PERFECT for us :) So grateful to have such a talented man as my soul mate :)

5. He knows how and when to apologize. Seems small, huh? Its not. At all. This has been HUGE in our relationship. Not just the fact that he can apologize, but that he encourages me to. Another area he makes me better! I'm not very good at the whole 'sorry' thing!

4. He thanks me.. for EVERYTHING! We are lucky enough to go to bed together every night. Brush our teeth and climb in the sheets at the same time. What a blessing this has been. We don't go a night with out a little cuddle time and it does WONDERS for me.. And each night.. he'll softly touch my face and tell me thanks for dinner. Or for cleaning up. Or for his lunch. Or for making him so happy. Or for something I did for Kailee. Seriously, he thanks me for everything! To know that he TRULY appreciates me and acknowledges all that I do (or try to do), makes even the worst most exhausting day worth it. Love that about him!

3. His drive. He wants to be better at everything he does. He wants to be the best at everything he does. He has more drive that anyone I know. That was a big thing for me. Someone who wouldn't be satisfied to just get by in life, or take the short cut and the easy way out all the time. He is so motivated and driven to have more, do more and be better. So sexy! :)

2. He is the BEST daddy. His main concern in this life is giving Kailee all she needs and deserves. And most of the time, everything she wants :) He is so good to get down and play with her. To draw with her, paint with her, play Princess Fishing, play Candyland a gazillion times, and even wrestle with her. :) I love to listen to him make her laugh.. which ALWAYS leads to his cute giggle! :) I feel really lucky and blessed that in our special situation, I got to see him be a daddy FIRST... I never will have to worry what he'll be like, or if he'll be patient or how he'll discipline. I already know how he will be. And it's such a blessing to know that my kids will have a wonderful dad who shows them love and teaches them right from wrong.. Gives me so much comfort for our future..

1. The man treats me like a queen. He makes me feel special, different and important every single day. He loves me, likes me, adores me, pampers me, spoils me and tells me every day what I mean to him. At least once every day he tells me I'm beautiful. He makes me feel beautiful. He makes me feel like I am something and I'm worth something. He makes me happier than I have every been in my life. He loves me with his whole heart, and I've never had a love like that before. I didn't believe in fairy tales.. or true love.. or in having a soul mate... until I found mine :)

I love you, Jake. You make life worth living and every day wonderful. You are the reason behind my smile, and my only hope is that I can make your life as good as you've made mine!

I am so glad you chose me! XoXo

Pinterest

Been awhile since I posted. If I had to guess, I'd say it was the day before I discovered Pinterest? Just a guess. ;) My life has been full of my two loves, work and making/cooking things I've found on Pinterest.. Okay, really.. I am devoting an ENTIRE post to that damn time-sucking, make-me-crafty, make-me-throw-out-old-crappy-recipes, you-can-make-anything-for-much-cheaper, here-are-a-million-dream-kitchens-that-make-me-hate-my-apartment-even-more website. :) No, but really. GREATEST. WEBSITE. EVVVER.!

Quotes? They're on Pinterest. Make up/Clothing/hair ideas? They're on Pinterest. Recipes for a sophisticated meal? They're on Pinterest. Recipes for a quick and easy dinner? They're on Pinterest. DIY EVERYTHING? They're on Pinterest. Decorations for every holiday and season? They're on Pinterest. Dream home ideas? They're on Pinterest. I could go on, and on, and on, and on, and on and on on on.. This website is PHENOMENAL!

My sister in laws were talking about it awhile back.. Once before the wedding, but I knew if I checked it out then, my psychotic, stressed out, psycho-ness would multiply by 10. Thank goodness I didn't do it. My  fiance at the time, and even more so, my mom... would have broken up with me.. :) I finally checked it out one day, at work. OOPS? And didn't really get it. Cool stuff, sure. But didn't spend much time ACTUALLY looking into it. Then one day, I did. Pretty sure I have had it pulled up ever since. On my phone, at work in between running reports (and sometimes when I should be doing something else... Sorry Ryan and Mark), every 'lunch', and on the lap top at home. This website is my favorite! Screw Facebook! :)

My obsession has become slightly ridiculous. I threw out a (maybe made up?!) stat to my husband about football (the stupid Patriots), and he came back with a snide "did you get that from Pinterest" comment. :) It was kind of funny. Even though sadly, it may be all that I have talked about for the past few weeks. :) And I love that I can send my mom a link, and she'll say.. "I saw that this morning"! Let the obsession spread! :)

To ANY of you reading this that haven't checked it out yet. Comment with your email address and I will send you an invite. Really, it will be the best thing that ever happened to you! :) I know it's in my top 5 favorite things in my life right now! :) Yes, babe.. You're still number 1!

Besides Pinterest life has been... ? Just kidding, life has been wonderful! Jake and I are adjusting to married life and all that comes with it. Love going to bed next to him and waking up to him every morning.. He really is the light of my life and my soul mate. Lucky me :) Kailee is as sassy and hilarious as ever! She cracks us up daily and says and does the funniest things! We're all really looking forward to our first Thanksgiving as an official family! Holiday posts and pictures to come! :) Have a wonderful and very Happy Thanksgiving.. I am grateful for so many things, especially all of the wonderful people I have surrounding me. XoXo
